Hey there Blazing Paddles!   I have created a Meet Up group for Wichita Falls.  Wichita Falls Paddlesports: Kayak, Canoe, SUP

Meet up is scheduled for this Saturday to go to Mt Scott area for paddling. The weather should be beautiful and the Lake FULL - since they had a 6" rain a couple of weeks ago.  I am checking on Elmer Thomas because we can do the whole perimeter and get in about 5 miles. PLEASE JOIN the MeetUp group. Just having you as members will encourage others to join and build our club base. And if you want to go to OK for paddling, please please RSVP so I can determine if this paddle is a GO.      I hope you all will join. It is free!

AND... Kayak Academy of WF is now up and running. I have enough kayaks and paddles and PFDs to outfit a 5 student class. I encourage all of you to take a class. I would not only like to help you increase your power in those paddling strokes, but would REALLY like to get us all squared away on Assisted Rescue and Self-Rescue.  So very important with the kayaks you are using. Please visit my webisite:  www.KayakAcademyofWF.com  and check out the things that are covered in the Kayak 101 class.  I know you have paddled for a few years.  So had I. The best thing I ever did was take a basics course! what an eye-opener!  what a help it was for me to be more efficient with my forward strokes!

Hope to see you on the water this weekend...

KAYAKING ACADEMY of WICHITA FALLS!
Hey there Blazing Paddlers and Paddler wannabe's.  Spring is coming soon!
By mid-March I will have my ACA Kayak Instructor L1 Certification and my First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
I have expanded my fleet and will soon have 5 sit-in kayaks and 1 sit-on-top (SOT) ready for  Kayaking Academy of Wichita Falls.
The Academy will kick off with two levels of kayak classes. The class size is limited to 5 students. Kayaks and gear are provided for the class.

  • Intro to Kayaking 101  a three hour class covering 6 basic strokes, water safety, how to get your kayak buddy back into their kayak after a woops I fell in, basic kayak knowledge, types of boats, paddles, and PDFs -(personal flotation device).  This is a fun class that will eliminate your fear of paddling and get you started right in a great sport for all ages.
  • Intermediate Kayak 201 a 6 hour class on the water covering additional stroke: bow rudder, sculling, stern rudder, side slip, hanging draw, low brace. You will learn to edge the kayak for more effective turning. Self-rescue will be thoroughly covered. This is a class will give you much more to add to your skills base and ensures that you will be able to rescue yourself.  Kayaking 101 is a prerequisite.
WATCH FOR IT:   KAYAKING ACADEMY of WICHITA FALLS  coming soon!
