KAYAKING ACADEMY of WICHITA FALLS!
Hey there Blazing Paddlers and Paddler wannabe's.  Spring is coming soon!
By mid-March I will have my ACA Kayak Instructor L1 Certification and my First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
I have expanded my fleet and will soon have 5 sit-in kayaks and 1 sit-on-top (SOT) ready for  Kayaking Academy of Wichita Falls.
The Academy will kick off with two levels of kayak classes. The class size is limited to 5 students. Kayaks and gear are provided for the class.

  • Intro to Kayaking 101  a three hour class covering 6 basic strokes, water safety, how to get your kayak buddy back into their kayak after a woops I fell in, basic kayak knowledge, types of boats, paddles, and PDFs -(personal flotation device).  This is a fun class that will eliminate your fear of paddling and get you started right in a great sport for all ages.
  • Intermediate Kayak 201 a 6 hour class on the water covering additional stroke: bow rudder, sculling, stern rudder, side slip, hanging draw, low brace. You will learn to edge the kayak for more effective turning. Self-rescue will be thoroughly covered. This is a class will give you much more to add to your skills base and ensures that you will be able to rescue yourself.  Kayaking 101 is a prerequisite.

Yesterday I put in at Trophy Club Park (off 114 headed to Dallas) The "river" is a feeder to Lake Grapevine.  I just charted a map of the paddling trip. We covered about 12 miles (thought it was 14) The weather was great. Not too much wind and plenty of sun. This was an easy paddle.  and not too far to drive. This paddle trip was with MeetUp group DFW Paddlesports, Kayak, Canoe, and SUP.
